Job Description

Working for this global investment bank the role is to manage a team of ten supporting 12 locations in APAC (excluding Japan).  Equities IT is a dedicated application support and development division, distinct from infrastructure support. Equity IT focus’s on business critical trading applications, providing 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support and strategic development in a global & highly complex technical environment.
The candidate will be a part of the APAC Cash technology team. The candidate will work closely with front office Equity Trading/Sales staff and associated Operations, manage progress and local business expectations accordingly.
The successful candidate will diagnose problems, define and co-ordinate the implementation of solutions individually and with development/Support group members. The candidate must be self-starting, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and be service orientated.
The person will promote the overall stability of the systems through improved monitoring and similar initiatives.
The ideal candidate will also take key responsibility on below areas :

·         Collaborate with deployment teams ensure the products are being tested before deployment;

·         Act as a gatekeeper of the production environment and identify issues on the delivery cycles and resolve them with the development counterparts

·         Facing off to both development team in the region and the local Business on all equity Cash technology issues;

·         Analysing application issues and determining the appropriate solution;

·         If the solution is a regional solution ensuring the requirements are factored into the plans;

The ideal candidate will have practical experience of software design and be able to assess the quality proposals and be able to contribute to software design tasks. Some hands on software development is required.
The person will work closely together with the key location team lead and act as a centre point of contact for Asia Support team. The candidate will be involved in the team organization, recruitment process and day to day management duties
Requirements    

Posses excellent verbal and written communication skills, good team player and proactive.
Strong business acumen, creative, reliable, able to work under pressure with tight deadline

·         Track record in managing a trading floor application support environment

·         Track record of managing teams of 5+

·         Strong stakeholder management skills at up to MD level

·         Ability to prioritise projects and delegate to staff

·         Ability to mentor the team and lead from the front

·         Extensive knowledge of UNIX fundamentals and scripting (Examples include Sun Solars and Linux)

·         Strong knowledge of regional database (Examples include Sybase, Oracle/ query (SQL) and Network (TCP/IP)

·         Knowledge and experience in Java or C ++ software development

·         Knowledge of scripting language such as Perl is a must, knowledge of FIX protocol is beneficial

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferably computer-science and/or maths/physics related degree
